Return to play
Back into sport, but properly. How we treat – and what we go by before clearing you to load the joint again.
Modern treatment approaches in sports medicine
Sports medicine draws on both well-established and innovative treatment methods to get athletes back into their sport quickly and safely.
Non-surgical treatment
- Physiotherapy: targeted exercises to restore strength, mobility and coordination
- Manual therapy: hands-on techniques to mobilise joints and soft tissue
- Injection therapy: hyaluronic acid, autologous blood or cortisone for pain relief
- Physical therapy: shockwave, ultrasound, electrotherapy and cryotherapy
Surgical procedures
- Arthroscopy: minimally invasive joint inspection for precise diagnosis and treatment
- Cruciate ligament reconstruction: modern techniques for lasting knee stability
- Cartilage treatment: regenerative procedures to restore cartilage
- Tendon reconstruction: repair of ruptured or degenerated tendons
Return-to-sport protocols
A structured return to sport is decisive for long-term success. Modern return-to-sport protocols are based on objective criteria such as strength measurements, functional tests and biomechanical analysis. Clearance for competitive sport is given only once every criterion has been met.
We carry out these tests in our own Return to Sports laboratory – here we accompany athletes individually with strength, jump and movement analyses on their way back to full performance.
