Acupuncture is a well-established treatment from traditional Chinese medicine that activates the body's own healing powers by placing fine needles at specific points. In our clinic we combine this method, thousands of years old, with modern medical knowledge in order to offer you treatment that considers the whole picture.
How does acupuncture work?
Acupuncture rests on the concept of meridians – channels of energy that run through the body. By placing fine needles at specific acupuncture points we can regulate the flow of energy and release blockages. This harmonises the functions of the body and can relieve pain and support healing.
Modern research shows that acupuncture encourages the release of endorphins and other pain-relieving substances. It also improves the blood supply and can have a positive effect on inflammation.
During treatment, sterile, very fine needles are placed at the relevant acupuncture points for about 20 to 30 minutes. The needles are so fine that insertion is usually barely noticeable. You can lie relaxed during the treatment and rest.
The number of treatments depends on your individual symptoms. Typically 6 to 12 sessions at intervals of 1 to 2 weeks are recommended. Acute symptoms can improve markedly after just a few sessions.
What we treat
Acupuncture can be used successfully for a range of orthopaedic complaints. Our experienced therapists develop an individual treatment plan for every patient.
Pain management
Acupuncture is particularly effective for chronic pain such as back pain, joint pain and headaches. Stimulating specific points can reduce pain and improve quality of life.
Sports injuries
With sports injuries, acupuncture can speed up healing and reduce swelling. The treatment supports the regeneration of muscles, tendons and ligaments.
Rehabilitation
After an operation, acupuncture can support rehabilitation. It improves the blood supply, reduces pain and can improve movement.
Prevention
Regular acupuncture treatment can work preventively and improve general well-being. It supports the body's own defences and encourages balance.
